Two Minions were legends in the silent era of motion pictures. Well, of course they were. Minions follow the greatest comic evil around there it was in the 1920s: Hollywoodland.
Wait. Hold up. How do Minions reproduce? Do they have sexuality? I suppose it doesn’t matter. They’re all kinda the same, and they’re all kinda silly. It takes a certain amount of silly to attend and enjoy a Minions film. Minions & Monsters is a reward for being silly. Here! Here it is, my friends: all of those who spent their youths taking in strange voices, making up comic stories, deliberately traipsing to school, or doing anything neither strictly forbidden nor illegal yet still soliciting a “hey, stop that!” from an authority figure … for all these folks, I give you Minions & Monsters, a silly film for silly people.
And Minions.
Minions sole goal, for centuries, has been “to serve the most evil master they can find.” But it’s a sad goal, for the frivolous, bumbling yellow doofs have a habit of killing off masters. Not intentionally, of course. But you get what you get when you put your stock in little fellas who would just as soon pop balloon animals as operate a death ray.
While directionless in the desert, the Minions spy a train robbery. Woo! Everybody get on board! Turns out? Not a real train robbery, just the filming of one. Long story short: Minions become the toast of Hollywood. Shortly after that, two especially enterprising Minions -James and Henry- become filmmakers. Sure, why not?
And then talkies come, and Minions fade because their language is ridiculous. Hence, James decides to make his own darn film: Minions & Monsters. Except 
where do you get a monster? Well, funny thing – when you’re in a Minions movie, monsters seem to come with the territory because of course.
There are mostly little laughs in this movie. Nothing will top the original Despicable Me for Minions shenanigans. -And it’s not that the Minions are any less silly now; we’ve just seen this act already. I like it, but it can’t really surprise me any longer. That’s a lot of how Minions & Monsters plays: this is silly. You’ll enjoy it because it’s silly. But if it makes you rollon the floor laughing, it’s because this is you first Minions movie. I doubt seriously you’ll get a great deal of new amusement from this film. Nevertheless, Minions & Monsters is a fun watch for silly souls.

Have attached themselves to the most evil fellow
But when horses became cars
Minions became stars
Because everybody enjoys sentient comic jell-o
