CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP O-VER-RATE-ED, 2011 version

The Descendants – Two words: Beau Bridges

Drive – Why is the shockingly violent consistently forgiven?  Scarface, Robocop, Oldboy, etc.  Take a boot to somebody’s skull repeatedly enough to forget the premise and you’ll suddenly acquire a cult of apologetic sycophants.

Thor — Thoroughly full of itself.  Thoroughly disappointing.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes – The fall of common sense.

The Iron Lady – Biopic opens with an old woman buying milk at a corner store … and this is a big deal.

J. Edgar – Biopic aboutHoover?  Well, nature hates a vacuum and, now, so do I.

Real Steel – Stupid, unappealing brawling robot.  But enough about Hugh Jackman.

Jane Eyre — Honestly, I think there’s more chemistry between Hugh and the robot than this Jane andRochester.

My Week with Marilyn – day 1.  Marilyn shows up, refuses to work on a flimsy premise.  I agree with her as I have a penis.  Repeat six more times.

(apologies to Tree of Life, which thanks to a Best Pic nod merits an automatic HOF achievement award for services to the overrated community)
